Course Structure
The Diploma in VLSI Design course is a 24 weeks full time course consisting of five modules, with an evaluation at the end of each module. 

Each daily session comprises 2 hours of classroom lecture followed by at least 4 hours of lab work.
Industry relevant projects of duration of 6 weeks are normally assigned to the students during the course. 

There are up to 40 seats available at every centre offering the course. The course will commence at a particular centre subject to availability of minimum 20 students.


Eligibility
M Tech / B Tech / ME / BE in Electronics / Electrical /E&TC / Instrumentation / Computer Science / M.Sc (electronics).

OR

Experienced electronic designers, developers, system integrators from electronic industry and R&D organizations. 

Students who have appeared for final examinations of any of the above courses may also apply. 
All applicants should possess a working knowledge of DOS or Windows or Unix environments.

Application Form
C-DAC's DVLSI course application form for the Common Entrance Test (CET) , is to be filled online at http://acts.cdac.in (recommended). The registration fee of Rs. 350/- (Three Hundred and fifty only)  for the CET is to be paid by DD drawn in favor of ‘C-DAC, ACTS’ payable at Pune and sent to:

Candidates are required to give the details on the backside of the DD like Name of the Candidate, Registration ID, and the course applied for i.e. DVLSI February 2008 batch. 

Printed application forms along with the instruction sheet are also available free of cost at all the Training Centres offering the DVLSI course. Candidates can fill in the printed application form and attach a DD of Rs.500/- (Five Hundred Only) towards registration fees for the CET along with a recent passport size photograph and submit the same at any of the training centres offering the DVLSI course or the same can be sent by speed post / courier only to the address mentioned above. 

For appearing for the DVLSI-CET, candidates are required to download & print the admit card. The photograph must be uploaded on our website for our records and further use. Candidates filling in the Manual (Handwritten) Application Form must submit the passport size photograph along with the Application Form; the same will be scanned and uploaded by the centre accepting the printed application form. Photographs once uploaded will not be changed under any circumstances whatsoever.

Please note that the upload of photograph is mandatory as this photograph will be used on the admit card for the CET and if the candidate is selected for the course, then the same photograph will appear on the Identity Card and finally on the DVLSI Certificate.

An additional Photo Identification (like Driving License /Voters ID card /College ID Card /Passport) will have to be produced by the candidate along with the admit card, at the time of appearing for the online CET at the exam center

Please note that you should register only once. Any deviation from this rule will disqualify you for admission to any of the centres, unconditionally. Any fees paid by you will also be forfeited. No correspondence shall be made in this regard.

Selection Process
Stage I: Common Entrance Test

The Common Entrance Test (CET) for the admission process will be conducted once all over India at the centres of C-DAC offering DVLSI course. The CET will consist of 100 objective type multiple-choice questions.

The confirmation of examination center for appearing for the CET will be intimated only after the upload of photograph and receipt of the registration fees of Rs. 350 /- or Rs. 500 /-  (Whatever the case may be) at C-DAC, ACTS, Pune. Once the candidate selects the date of CET and Exam center, it will not be changed under any circumstances. 

The result of the CET will be displayed on the website along with the percentile score of the candidates on the day of the result mentioned in the schedule. A message clearly indicating whether the candidate has qualified for Stage II & III will be displayed along with the percentile score in form of a “CET Score Card”. Candidate can view the cut off percentile for appearing for Stage II & III of selection process of all centers offering February 2008 batch of DVLSI course. For this purpose candidates need to log on to the website using registration ID and Password.

Declaration of CET Result

The result of the CET will be displayed on the website along with the percentile score of the candidates on the day of the result mentioned in the schedule. A message clearly indicating whether the candidate has qualified for Stage II & III will be displayed along with the percentile score in form of a “CET Score Card”. Candidate can view the cut off percentile for appearing for Stage II & III of selection process of all centers offering February 2008 batch of DVLSI course. For this purpose candidates need to log on to the website using registration ID and Password.

Candidate should carefully note the percentile score and the cut off percentile of all centres offering DVLSI course. Candidate need to update the details of DD of first installment of course fees on ACTS website & then send the same before December 17,2007 to C-DAC, ACTS, Pune. Candidate can select the centre for appearing for stage II & III of selection process only after the receipt of the DD of first installment at C-DAC, Pune

The Candidate need to pay Rs. 2,500/-(Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred Only) towards the first installment of course fees by a DD drawn in favour of “C-DAC, ACTS” payable at Pune on or before December 17,2007 . Candidate will be able to see and select the centers available to him for undergoing the stage II and III of the selection process only after the receipt of payment of first installment of course fees of Rs. 2,500/- (Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred only) at C-DAC, ACTS, Pune.

Candidate need to select the center from the list of centres available for selection as per candidate’s percentile score and availability of the seats at a particular centre for the Stage II & III of selection process.
   
IMPORTANT NOTE: 

1. Incase the candidate is not interested in appearing for the stage II & III of the selection process, then he/she should not select any of the center available for selection, but can request for the complete refund of the first installment of course fees by clicking the option provided for the REFUND.

2.The option for the REFUND of fees shall be provided on the same page where the list of available centres is displayed. Candidate is required to claim the refund by specifically clicking on the Refund button. If the candidate fails / forget to click on the refund button then no claims for complete refund shall be entertained any circumstances.

3. For details on the refund of the course fees paid please refer to the “Rules for Refund of Course Fees” section below.
 
Stage II: Subjective Test

Candidates have to undertake Stage II & III of the selection process only at the specific centre selected by the student. Subject to successful clearance of Stage II & III, the candidate shall be offered admission to the same centre only.

In order to facilitate the participation of the short listed candidates in Stage II and III at the allotted centre, the to and fro second-class railway fare (or its equivalent) by the shortest route shall be reimbursed to the candidate on production of the original tickets. The accommodation for the previous night shall also be provided at no extra cost to the candidate. 

The subjective test shall consist of descriptive questions and design problems based on Digital design.

Stage III: Interview

This stage shall consist of a technical interview based on the syllabus of the CET and a personal interview of the candidate after the subjective test normally on the same day. The scholastic records will also be reviewed at this stage.
The candidate shall undergo this stage irrespective of his/her score in stage II.

After the candidate successfully completes all the three stages of selection process, he or she shall be given a letter of Offer of Admission.

Course Fee
The total fees for the course is Rs. 44,000/- (Rupees Forty Four Thousand only) to be paid in two installments by Demand Drafts drawn on any Nationalized Bank in favor of “C-DAC, ACTS” and payable at Pune. The course fee is inclusive of the course material to be provided to the individual student. 

The first installment of Rs. 2,500/- (Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred only) is to be paid after the declaration of CET result and on or before the date mentioned in the course schedule in the instruction sheet given along with the printed application form or on this website. 

Candidate need to update the details of DD of second installment of course fees of Rs. 41,500/- (Rupees Forty One Thousand Five hundred only) on ACTS website & then send the same to C-DAC, ACTS, Pune The second installment of the course fees of Rs. 41,500/-(Rupees Forty One Thousand Five Hundred only) is to be paid on or before the last date mentioned in the course schedule in the instruction sheet given along with the printed application form or on this website. 

For details on the refund of the course fees paid Candidates should refer to the “Rules for Refund of Course Fees” section below.

Rules for Refund of Course Fees

Candidates should specifically apply for Refund of Course fees only through the candidate's member area on C-DAC ACTS website (http://acts.cdac.in). Manual / written / email applications for refund of fees will not be entertained in any case.

The course fees paid by the candidate shall be refunded in following circumstances:

If the candidate doesn’t choose the centre for appearing for stage II &/ III of the selection process and specifically opt for “Fees Refund”: 

The first installment of course fees shall be refunded completely if 

1. The candidate has paid the fees before the last date of submission of the same and 
2. The candidate doesn’t select any centre available for selection for undergoing the stage II & III of the selection process and click on the “Fees Refund” option before last date of selection of the centre. The fees shall be refunded within 30 days from the last date of selection of the centre.

If the candidate selects the centre for stage II & III:

Once the candidate selects the centre for appearing for stage II and III of the admission process or the date of selection of the centre is over, the first installment of course fees of Rs. 2500/- will be non refundable irrespective of candidate is selected for the course or not.

If the candidate applies for refund within 30 days from last date for the payment of Second Installment of the course fees:

Fifty percent of the total course fees paid shall be refunded within 60 days from the commencement of the course.

In case of an unfortunate incidence of death of the student before conclusion of the course, the course fees paid by him/her shall be refunded completely to the legal heirs.

The fees paid by the candidate shall not be refunded 

1. If the candidate applies for refund of first installment after last date of selection of centre for appearing to stage II and III of the admission process. No refund will be paid.

2. If the candidate applies for the refund of the first and second installment of the course fees paid after 30 days from the last date of payment of second installment of the course fees. No refund will be paid.

Computing Facilities
A minimum of 6 hrs computer time per day on a dedicated client node to be shared by a pair of students. Extended computer time after the normal working hours and on all Sundays / holidays may be available.

The DVLSI course is designed keeping in view the current and future manpower needs of the industry. The course is well regarded by industry recruiters as assured source of well trained and high quality manpower. As a result, in the last several years our students have secured good placement in top ranking VLSI design centres.

The Placement cell at the respective centres actively coordinates Campus Interviews for all the students. The students should note that the selection is solely governed by the requirements and recruitment policies of the various companies visiting our centres for campus recruitment.
