Frequently Asked Questions for ADIT
What is the Eligibility for Advanced Diploma in Information Technology?
10 years of formal education and after successful completion of CDAC’s
Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) or equivalent knowledge.
What is the selection criteria?
Candidates who have not completed CDAC’s DIT course will be admitted
on the basis of scrutiny of their application form and on the basis of
their performance in the written and practical entrance test so as to
ascertain their knowledge of DIT curriculum.
Syllabus for the entrance test?
Knowledge in Computer Fundamentals,
Windows operating system at user
level,
Office Automation tools basics like word, Excel and PowerPoint
and
Aptitude.
Duration of the course?
The ADIT is a 26 weeks part-time course consisting of seven modules
spread over 19 weeks, project spread over 5 weeks, Examination
preparation over the last 2 weeks. The duration of this course is 288
hours. 2 hours per day for 26 weeks or the course may also be offered by
the centre for 4 hours per day for 13 weeks
How many hours a day and how many days a week ?
2 hrs a day.
Fees of the course?
Rs. 9,000/- (Rupees nine Thousand only) to be paid in one single
installment to be paid in advance before the commencement of the course.
The fee is non-refundable and is inclusive of the course material,
examination fee for the first attempt and the admission fees.
Is the fee refundable?
No

How many times a year the entrance exam is conducted?
Four times a year

No, The course is under CDAC, which is a part of Ministry of IT, Central
Govt, India
Is there any financial grant received by C-DAC to conduct this
course?

How are the PC’s allotted in the lab?
Two students for one PC
Do we get the course material from C-DAC?
Yes
Examination of the modules?
A comprehensive Theory exam encompassing all the modules is conducted at
the end of the course.Final and Internal Practical exam for all the applicable modules will be
conducted.
Evaluation Process?
The student’s progress is reviewed throughout the duration of the
course by evaluating his Laboratory Assignments. This Assignment
Evaluation has a weightage of 100 marks out of a total of 500 marks.
Only those students who have scored atleast 40% marks in the Assignment
Evaluation are eligible to appear for the Theory and Lab Examinations.
A
comprehensive Theory Examination encompassing all the modules is
conducted at the end of the course. The examination shall be conducted
at a particular ATC subject to a minimum of 20 candidates appearing for
the exam. In case the number is less than 20, students will have to
travel to the nearest designated examination Centre on their own.
This
examination which is set and evaluated by C-DAC, has a weightage of 200 marks out of
a total of 500 marks. The written test will consist of multiple choice
objective type questions. ACTS will also conduct a Laboratory
Examination in which the student will have to solve a set of programming
problems. The Lab Exam will carry a weightage of 100 marks. The Project
will also carry a weightage of 100 marks in the final evaluation. The
final theory and lab examinations will take place on the Sunday of the
twenty sixth week of the course.
Students scoring at least 40% marks in each component of the evaluation
will be awarded the Advanced Diploma in Information Technology by C-DAC
with grades as per the Grading Scale given below :

The results will be declared and certificates will be dispatched to the
ATCs in not more than 30 days from the date of examination. Those who
are unable to clear any component of the examination may appear for
re-examination with subsequent batches on payment of Rs.500/- as
examination fee. However, the syllabus for each examination shall be
that of the recently concluded batch.
How is the grading done?
The final grade of the student will be computed on a score of 500 marks

Re-examination of a particular module?
Those who are unable to clear the written examination may appear for
re-examination with subsequent batches on payment of Rs.500/- as
re-examination fee. However, the syllabus for each examination shall be
that of the recently concluded batch of the ADIT course.
Certificates of the course?
The Certificates will be dispatched to the ATC’s in not more than 30
days from the date of the examination.
Library facility?
A very good library facility is provided at all the ATC’s
What is the scope of the course?
The students after completing the course will be able to develop real
time projects using Database concepts, SDLC concepts, VB 6.0 and Access
etc. And also be familiar with Web Application development. As the
course is updated regularly in accordance with the latest trends in
computing, the student will be familiar with latest development in the
world of computing.
Faculty of the ATC’s?
All the faculty of all the ATC’s are examined and approved by C-DAC,
by conducting proper training programmes and conducting the proper
evaluation of each of them in both theory and practicals.
Can I have the change of center?
You can do the course in one center and appear for the exam in another
center.
Revision of the course contents, is it every three months?
Yes, If required
If the course is done from ATC’s as published in the official
course brochure, where will I get the certificate?
Certificate to successful candidates will be awarded by C-DAC.
When the course commences?
The next course commences from July 01, 2002.
After the entrance test can I get admission to some other centre?
Yes, by the authorization of the ATC in which you have appeared the exam
and intimation to the CDAC.
Can I retain my admission for the next batch based on the performance
of this test?
No. Your admission will be valid for only this batch if you have cleared
the entrance exam.
Will there be a waiting list or second list?
Yes. Depending on the number of seats available and the candidates
appeared for the exam.
